A Typical Month at Air Reading
Last updated: April 25, 2026
This guide outlines what to expect in a typical month as an Air Reading teacher—from submitting your availability to teaching classes, tracking assessments, and getting paid.
Getting scheduled
Submit your schedule
Submit your availability in the My availability tab in the Teacher Portal.
Wait time before assignments
Depending on the time of year, it may take a few weeks to be scheduled due to school calendars and enrollment timelines.
Class notifications
You will receive an email when a new class is assigned. The first scheduled class is typically a Diagnostic Assessment, which appears about one week before a school session begins.
View your assigned students
After students complete their Diagnostic Assessments, any classes assigned to you will appear in the My student groups tab on the Teacher Portal. In this tab, you can view class days and times as well as student names for each group.
Teaching and assessments
Teach your scheduled classes
Once assigned, you will begin teaching based on your confirmed schedule. New teachers usually start with one to two classes to build confidence and consistency.
Monitor student progress
You will monitor student progress through collecting daily feedback (Mastery Check) as well as administering Progress Monitoring assessments that appear in every 6th lesson throughout the curriculum. Additionally, there are Grade Level Assessments to administer periodically. These checkpoints help track reading growth and guide future instruction.
Payments and attendance
Payment schedule
Payments are issued twice per month. You can view payment period dates in the Teacher Portal under the Payments tab and then select Guideline.
No timesheets required
There is no need to submit a timesheet. Taught classes and required live sessions are automatically tracked for payment.
Special project payments
If you participate in a special project, instructions will be provided for submitting payment requests separately.
Payment timing
Expect to receive payment within 1–3 business days after the Pay Date, depending on your bank and excluding holidays and weekends.
